Steel and glass poetry surround me at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Van Nelle Fabriek. Walking through the building, you could almost smell the bygone era of coffee, tea, and tobacco production that constitutes the history of Van Nelle. Of course, the odours are long gone, but there is an overwhelming presence of modernity in this building, the first daylight factory in Europe and flagship of industrial Dutch architecture.
